The first ABDO Extended Services Course Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) of 2025 took place at the Association’s National Resource Centre (NRC) in Birmingham this week (27 January).
Just under 20 candidates undertook the seven required stations that make up the event, which is facilitated by the Wales Optometry Postgraduate Education Centre – part of Cardiff University’s School of Optometry and Vision Sciences.
ABDO clinical lead, Max Halford, remarked: “It was fantastic to witness the exceptional standards demonstrated by the contact lens opticians in attendance.
“We wish them every success with their results – and thank our colleagues from the NRC for their support with the event management.”
ABDO is holding two Extended Services Days (ESD) in 2025 – in March and September.
Funding from Health Education England is still available for a limited number of places, so early booking is advised.
The next ESD will take place on Monday 31 March, and its linked OSCE on Tuesday 6 May.
Both events will be held at the ABDO NRC.
